Energy Efficient Lighting to Save you Money

Saving money and the environment is so easy with energy efficient lighting. Your lighting makes up about 7% of your electricity bill, yet it is so easy to reduce your bill through energy efficient light fittings and changing your standard bulbs to long-life, energy-saving light bulbs.

Inefficient bulbs are gradually being phased out, as are the fittings that go with them. BUT, don’t worry because energy efficient lighting technology is advancing quickly.

There are two types of energy efficient bulbs to choose from, Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and Compact Flourescent Lights (CFLs). Here, at Bees Electrical, we can supply and fit both.

CFLs are the most efficient and can save you around £45 over the lifetime of the bulb, or £3 per year. Better still, because they are long-life bulbs, the length of time between bulb changes is around 10 times longer than traditional bulbs.

LED lighting systems are great for replacing dimmable lighting and spotlights and can save you a huge amount of money. While the initial investment is higher than CFL lighting, over the life of the product LEDs will save more money because they are far more efficient. You could save up to £40 per year just by changing any halogen light fittings with LED light fittings.

LED light fittings will pay for themselves many times over before the fitting needs replacing so it makes sense to incorporate LED lighting whenever replacing old light fittings. They are great in bathrooms and kitchens, and can add a certain modern style to your lounge and family areas. They can also be used as features in themselves – we can install them in the skirting on stairs, for instance, or under kitchen units, both floor and wall.
